the characteristic test for the SO2 gases:
(i) Sulphur dioxide gas turns moist blue litmus paper to red because SO2 is a non-metal oxide which is acidic in nature (ii) Sulphur dioxide gas turns acidified potassium dichromate (vi) solution from orange to green.
