Hi, I have doubt regarding Statistics – R S Aggrawal exercise 9B Question 2. The median class taken in the solution is 28-35. n/2 is 25. Cumulative frequency of 21-28 and 28-35 is 25. As per my understanding, median class should have cumulative frequency just greater than n/2. So, median class should not be 21-28 or 28-35 which has cumulative frequency equal to n/2. Can you please explain why 1) Median class is taken as 28 – 35 (and not 35 – 42 which has cumulative frequency greater than 25) 2) What should be taken as median class if cumulative frequency is same for two classes (one class having frequency 0, thus making cumulative frequency same)?
Hi, The mean obtained by all 3 methods should be same. However, in R S Aggarwal 9D Question 5 mean obtained is 205 if calculated using direct and assumed mean method. If step deviation method is used using assumed mean(A) =225 and class size(h) = 50, mean comes as 208.3. Request you to kindly clarify .
